5 killed in Faridpur road accident

Five persons were killed and 37 others injured, 12 of them seriously, in a road accident on Dhaka-Barisal Highway at Pulia in Faridpur Friday mid-night. Police and fire service sources said, the accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound passenger bus from Terokhada of Khulna and a Barisal-bound goods laden truck from Dhaka collided head-on killing five persons on the spot and injuring 37 others. Three victims were identified as Iskander Ali (70), Shibir Hossain (18) and Selim 30. Identity of two other dead persons could not be ascertained immediately. Two out of 12 seriously injured persons were sent to Dhaka for treatment. The rest were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital and Bhanga Upazila Health Complex. — BSS
