5 killed in Khulna, Bogra road mishaps

KHULNA, Nov 9: Two people were killed in a road accident on the Khulna-Mongla highway Tuesday night.
The deceased were identified as Harun-ur-Rashid (45), son of Afzal Sheikh, and singer SM Paran (26) of village Uzalpur under Rampal Upazila of Bagerhat district.
Police and locals said that the accident occurred while a Mongla-bound Nasimon collided head-on with a passenger bus coming from opposite directions at Chulkhathi area of Khulna-Mongla highway at about 7.30 pm Tuesday. Nosimon passenger SM Paran died on the spot and driver Harun died on way to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
UNB adds from Bogra: Three people, including a minor girl, were killed in a road accident at Naodapara in Sadar Upazila Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as motorcycle riders Helal Uddin (32), son of late Abdus Sattar, his father-in-law Bulu Mia (48), and his daughter Sadia (4), of Jhopgari village in the upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a fuel oil tanker hit the Mohasthangarh-bound motorcycle as the lorry driver lost control over the vehicle, killing Helal and Bulu on the spot and injuring Sadia at around 5 pm.
Sadia was taken to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where she succumbed.
Police, on information, recovered the bodies and sent those to Sadar hospital for autopsy.
Police also seized the lorry but its driver and helper managed to flee. A case was filed.
