5 killed in Mymensingh crash

At least five people were killed and three others injured when a pick-up van hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Muktagachha upazila of Mymensingh district on Monday. Two of the deceased were identified as Tufainna, 70, and Abul Kashem, 72, both hailing from the upazila. Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Muktagachha Police Station, said the accident took place on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Lengra Bazaar of Muktagaccha around 10:00am when a pick-up van collided head on with the Muktagachha-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw from Kalibazar, leaving three of the auto-rickshaw passengers dead on the spot and five others injured. Among the injured, two died on way to Muktagachha Upazila Health Complex while the others were admitted to a local hospital, according to a news agency.
