5 killed in road mishaps

JOYPURHAT, Aug 13 (BSS): Father and his son were killed and six others injured in a road accident at Mohanpur Bridge point on the Tilakpur-Beragram road under Akkelpur upazila on Thursday night, police sources said. Officer-in-Charge of Akkelpur police station Mokhlesur Rahman said the accident took place when a passenger-carrying Votvoti and another cattle-carrying Votvoti fell down into the roadside ditch while overtaking each other. The dead were identified as Mozaffar Hossain, 68, and his son Anwar Hossain, 24, of village Pathan Dhara in the sane upazila were killed on the spot and six other persons injured in the accident. The injured persons were admitted to different hospitals. Police seized the Votvotis and arrested both drivers from the spot. A case was filed with concern police in this connection. Another reports from Narsingdi adds: Three youths were killed as a bus collided head-on with a motorbike at Kundarpara on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Shibpur upazila of the district last night. Police said two motorcycle riders died on the spot and another suffered critical injury as the bus of Swapna Bilas transport company smashed the two wheelers.
