5 killed in separate road accidents

GAIBANDHA, Aug 8 (BSS): At least two persons were killed and two others seriously injured in a road accident at Palashbari Upazila town on Rangpur-Bogra Highway in the district this morning. Police said the accident took place when a Dhaka bound mango laden truck coming from Rangpur collided head on with a Rangur bound pick up van in South Bus stand area of the upazila headquarters. The deceased are identified as pick up van driver Shukur Ali, 46, and mango trader Kamruzzaman, 42, of Mithapukur Upazila under Rangpur district.The injured Moshiur Rahman and Nurunnabi were admitted to Palashbari Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition. They were shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated. A case was filed with Palashbari Thana in this connection. UNB report from Habiganj: Three people were killed and 10 others injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a pickup van at Minnagar on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Madhabpur upazila Monday morning. The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.Police said the Sylhet bound passenger bus of Eagle Paribahan collided with the goods laden pickup van coming from opposite direction at the point at about 6am, leaving three passengers of the pickup van dead on the spot and 10 other bus passengers injured. On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy. A case was filed.
