5 militants put on fresh remand in Ctg

A Chittagong court has placed five suspected militants, including a Pakistani citizen, on different terms of fresh remand. Metropolitan Magistrate Farid Alam passed the order when police produced them before his court seeking a five-day remand for each of them on Sunday afternoon. Assistant Commissioner of Metropolitan Police Bikash Chakrabarty said Mohammed Alam, Abdul Majid, Salamat Ullah and Shafiullah were placed on a 3-day remand for the 2nd phase while Mohammed Amin was put on a 2-day one. Police arrested five suspected militants Mohammad Alam, 45, a Pakistani national, Abdul Majid, 31, hailing from Ukhia Upazila of Cox’s Bazar and a Saudi expatriate, Mohammad Salamat Ullah, 45, Shafiullah, 40, and Mohammad Amin, 50, from a residential hotel in the port city on November 23. Later, they were put on a five-day remand each on the next day and sent to Dhaka for interrogation at the joint interrogation cell, according to a news agency.
