5 more bodies recovered

Five more bodies have been recovered from the site of Saturday’s launch capsize in Kalagachhia River in Golachipa uapzila in Patuakhali district, raising the death toll in the mishap to 13. At least 15 more passengers are still missing. The bodies were found after rescue operations resumed on Sunday morning, Sub-Inspector Abdul Halim of Kalagachhia Police Outpost said. Eight bodies were recovered on Saturday night. The vessel, ML Shathil, left Rangabali ghat (terminal) in Golachipa for Patuakhali town on Saturday afternoon and was caught in the storm in the Kalagachhia River. It sank after a while with around 60 passengers on board. Thirty passengers managed to swim ashore while the rest went missing. Among the missing, the bodies of 13 have been rescued so far while the rest remained missing till Sunday noon, according to a news agency.
