5 more die in Dengue

Five more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Tuesday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in the country to 102 this year.
A total of 534 were hospitalised on the day. The total cases stood at 16,819 this year, according to health authorities.
Two of the new deaths were reported in the capital Dhaka and the port city Chattogram each.
Of the new cases, 199 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka, while others were admitted outside the capital city in the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
However, out of the total hospitalisations, 15,053 patients have been released from hospitals.
Three of the deceased were women and two were men, aged between 16 and 50 years.
The health authorities recorded 19 deaths and 3,978 hospitalizations in the first 10 days of September.
Entomologists have already expressed concerns that the situation may worsen in the coming days, including in October, and have suggested immediate measures to combat the mosquito-borne viral fever.
Last year, the country reported a record 1,705 deaths due to dengue and a total of 321,179 dengue cases.
In the last 35 weeks since January this year, 5,429 Rohingya have been infected with dengue, resulting in one fatality, according to the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) office.
A total of 872 new cases were reported this week, marking a 6.0 per cent increase from the number of cases identified the previous week (820).
