5 more RAB men arrested for N\\\'ganj 7 murders

Five more RAB personnel have been arrested in connection with Narayanganj 7 murders. They are Habildar Emdadul Haque, Radio Operator Arif Hossain, Lance Nayek Md Hira Miah, Lance Nayek Md Jalal and Sepoy Abu Taiyab. All of them served at the Narayanganj-based Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-11. They were produced before the court of Narayanganj’s Senior Judicial Magistrate Chandni Rupam on Wednesday with the police seeking a 10-day remand. The court granted eight days’ remand for questioning, said Narayanganj Districts Lawyers’ Association President Md Shakhawat Hossain Khan. Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) Councillor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer of the district judge’s court Chandan Kumar Sarkar and five others were abducted on April 27. Their bodies were recovered from Shitalakhya and Dhaleswari rivers on April 30 and May 1. Relatives of Nazrul and Chandan filed two separate cases over the gruesome killings and three former officials of RAB-11 were earlier arrested in connection with the two murder cases, according to bdnews24.com.
