5 sacked members of different forces among 11 held

Law-enforcing agencies have arrested 11 people for their alleged involvement in a robbery at a Mohammadpur apartment in the city early Sunday.
Miscreants looted cash of Tk 7.5 million and 70 bhori of gold ornaments, according to police.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested eight individuals and the Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested three individuals connected to the robbery.
Lt Col Munim Ferdous, director of RAB's legal and media wing, told the FE that five of those arrested by RAB are former members of various law enforcement agencies, dismissed from service, while the remaining three are ordinary citizens.
The suspects were arrested from different areas of the capital, he said.
During the raids, RAB recovered a microbus used in the heist, Tk 0.7 million in cash, and some of the stolen gold ornaments. Drives are underway to arrest the others, he added.
On the other hand, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, through a press release said that the DB arrested three persons connected to the robbery.
They are Shariful Islam Tusar, 35, Zakir Hossain, 37, and Md Masudur Rahman, 47.
During the raids, DB recovered Tk 0.2 million in cash, 4 bhori of the gold ornaments and two iphones from them.
The incident occurred around 3:45 am on Sunday on the second floor of a five-storey building named "Abu Company Building" near the Tin Rasta intersection of Mohammadpur.
The building belongs to a businessman named Abu, said locals.
According to the victims, a group of 8-10 people dressed in uniforms resembling those of the army and RAB arrived at their home, and said they were there to conduct a raid to recover weapons.
They searched several cupboards and vandalised furniture and looted the money and gold ornaments, victims claimed.
A robbery case was filed with the Mohammadpur Police Station in this connection, said the press release.
