5 women MPs elected from reserved seats

Five women candidates nominated by Bangladesh Awami League have been declared elected unopposed to the seats set aside for women in Parliament, reports UNB.
Returning Officer and Regional Election Officer Mihir Sarwar Morshed made the announcement at the Election Commission Secretariat Thursday.
The elected candidates are Fazilatun Nesa, Fazilatun Nesa Bappi, Hasina Mannan, Pinu Khan and AN Mahfuza Khatun Baby Moudud.
Speaking at the press briefing, the Returning Officer said the Election Commission would inform the Parliament secretariat about it through a gazette notification in order to take further steps in this regard.
As per the election schedule, he mentioned, all the five candidates submitted their nomination papers to the Commission found those eligible after scrutiny on December 1.
All of them were declared elected unopposed as nobody withdrew candidature within the deadline (2pm on Dec 7).
The number of reserved seats in Parliament has been increased from 45 to 50 through the Fifteenth Amendment to the Constitution.
