50 farmers receive training on modern fish farming

NAOGAON, Apr 13: About 50 farmers in Raninagar upazila of the district received training on modern fish farming.
Non-government organisation Association for Social Advancement (ASA) arranged the day- long training programme at Upazila Parishad Conference Room yesterday.
Assistant director of ASA Sabuj Kumar Chowdhury attended the function as the chief guest with district branch manager Mamunur Rashid in the chair.
District fisheries officer Firoz Ahmed and Raninagar upazila senior fisheries officer Md. Maksudur Rahman were resource persons at the training programme.
Addressing the function, speakers said fish is a renewable natural resource and plays a great role for the improvement of socio-economic condition of poor fishers. Fisheries sector contributes nearly 60 per cent of an animal protein to daily diet.
By introducing mixed culture system and integrated aquaculture system, the fish production can be increased to manifolds, they added.
