50 injured in cops-JnU students clash

The students of Jagannath University (JnU) engaged in a clash with police in and around the campus as the law enforcers resisted them from besieging a student dormitory on Sunday. At least 50 people, including cops and JnU students, were injured in about two-hour-long clash that escalated to the whole area including roads leading to the campus, local traders and witnesses said. The clash halted traffic on the roads in front of Victoria Park, Sadarghat crossing and Patuatali. The clash which started around 10:45am continued till 12:45pm also sending a panic wave in the area. Pedestrians ran helter-skelter for shelter and traders and shopkeepers pulled the shutters of their business establishments and after the clash spread to the streets, according to private TV channels.
