50 shanties gutted in city slum fire

At least 50 shanties were gutted in a fire that broke out at a slum at Pallabi in the city Monday night, fire fighters said. Fire Brigade sources said the fire originated from a lighted candle at about 10:15pm and engulfed adjacent dwellings burning down at least 50 shanties into ashes.
