50 shops gutted in Ctg

At least 50 shops were gutted by a devastating fire that broke out at a market in Fatikchhari upazila in Chittagong on Tuesday morning. Local sources said the fire originated from an electric shot circuit at a shop in the market situated at Bidhir Haat in the upazila town at about 7:30am. Soon the fire engulfed other adjoining shops. On information, two firefighting units from Fatikchhari and Hathazari fire stations of the district rushed in and extinguished the blaze after about three hours of frantic efforts at about 10:30 am with the help of local people. The affected business owners claimed that the extent of losses from the fire could go up to Tk 5 million, according to UNB.
