50,000 people making their living from bamboo-made appliances

GOPALGANJ, Sept 28: About 50,000 people of the district are earning their living by making bamboo-made household appliances.
Sources said artisans make different types of fish-traps, hand-fans, baskets, rocking craddle and other necessary household appliances as the products are in high demand among the villagers.
Traders from the nearby districts visit the area to purchase those items.
A good number of craftsmen in the district claim that middleman make a brisk business depriving the poor artisans as they do not give fair prices of the product.
Craftsmen urged the authority concerned to take effective measures so that they could sell their product at a fair rate in the local markets.
They also urged the government to arrange easy-term loan facility for them for their smooth work.
They also said if they get proper training facility they could make more quality product.
