53rd National Cooperative Day observed in districts

The 53rd National Cooperative Day-2024 was observed in districts on Saturday with a call to building up the country as a discrimination-free state.
In Netrakona, on the occasion, Netrakona district administration and district cooperative department jointly chalked out different programmes.
As part of the programmes, a colourful rally was brought out in the district town from Netrakona DC office premises which ended on the same place after parading main roads of the town.
A discussion was also held.
The Deputy Commissioner Netrakona Bonai Biswas addressed the meeting as the chief guest with district cooperative officer Sumon Chandra Paul in the chair.
It was addressed, among others, by additional deputy commissioner (general) Mohammad Rafiquzzaman and upazila Nirbahi officer of Netrakona sader upazila Tania Tabassum.
The chief guest said the cooperative movement can play an important role for strengthening national economy and alleviating poverty.
In this context, she underlined the need for promoting the cooperative activities everywhere in the society for materializing the spirit of anti-discrimination student-mass uprising and improving living condition of the unprivileged people of the country.
In Rangpur, senior divisional level officials on Saturday urged all concerned to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication for building a cooperative-based and discrimination-free society to ensure welfare of all citizens.
They made the call while addressing a discussion organised by Divisional Cooperatives Office at the Divisional Commissioner's conference room marking the 53rd National Cooperative Day- 2024 in the city.
The day's programme began with hoisting of the national and cooperative flags and bringing out a procession on the streets.
Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam led the procession participated by officials, journalists, employees and activists of different cooperative organisations.
Later, a discussion was held on the occasion. Divisional Commissioner attended the discussion as the Chief Guest with Divisional Joint Registrar Mrinal Kanti Biswas in the chair.
Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range Police Aminul Islam and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Foysal spoke as the special guests.
In Rajshahi, successful cooperatives can be the crucial means of improving living and livelihood conditions of people everywhere in society both in urban and rural areas.
Utmost emphasis should be given on infusing dynamism into cooperative activities as it's very effective in freeing the nation from the curse of poverty and hunger.
Administrative officials and other stakeholders made the observation while addressing a post-rally discussion here on Saturday calling for finding effective ways and means to attain strength and prosperity in every sphere of national life and for making the cooperatives movement a total success.
Divisional and district administrations and Department of Cooperatives jointly organised the discussion at the auditorium of Government Laboratory High School in the city to mark the 53rd National Cooperatives Day-2024.
