54 Dhaka schools\\\' properties grabbed

Land, buildings, classrooms and other property of 54 out of 295 public primary schools in Dhaka city have been illegally occupied by different quarters ranging from land grabbers to different government institutions since long. A report by the Dhaka district primary education officer says Dhaka WASA (Water and Sewerage Supply Authority) has installed water pumps on plots belonging to seven schools. A community centre, garage, Ansar-VDP camp, kitchen market, mosque, Eidgah (prayer ground), clubs and shops have encroached on land owned by several schools. Individual encroachers including local bigwigs and slum dwellers have grabbed lands of many schools. The district primary education office submitted the report to the Primary and Mass Education Ministry on Thursday (Sept 18). Some of the grabbed schools are: Suritola Model Primary School in old Dhaka, Ramna Railway High School, Dhanmondi-1 Govt Primary School, Shahidbagh Primary School, Mannan Govt Primary School and Khalilur Rhaman and Kazi Farid schools at Mirpur, Matuail No 2 School in Demra, Meradia School at Gulshan, Ideal Muslim Boys/Girls School in Motijheel, Madartek Govt Primary School, Hazi Mazharul Haq Primary School in Kotwali, Dakshin Khan Primary School, Kamrangir Char Govt Primary School under Mohammadpur Police Station, Sher-e-Bangla Govt Primary School at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Taltala Primary School at Agargaon, Khilgaon Model School, FKM Government Primary School in Bongshal, Chhoto Katra Govt Primary School, Armanitola Government Primary School, Nazirabazar Govt Primary School, Gendaria Mohila Samity Govt Primary School, MA Alim Government Primary School and Bipin Roy School at Sutrapur, Taltola school in Khilgaon, Borabo Govt Primary School at Mohammadpur, Brahman Chiron School in Demra, according to bdnews24.com.
