54 students fall sick for food poisoning

At least 54 students were hospitalised after they fell sick eating foods at a feast at a local women's madrasa in Bheramara upazila in Kushtia district on Wednesday. Locals said 54 students of Ma Khadizatul Kobra Mohila Madrasah ate foods, including polau, beef, fish and curd at a party arranged on the madrasa premises at 12noon. Later they had loose motion and abdominal pain with vomiting. Their condition deteriorated fast after a couple of hours. All the 54 students were rushed to the upazila health complex in critical condition at night. Nurul Islam, residential medical officer of the health complex, said the students fell sick due to food poisoning, according to a news agency.
