55m euro German grants to support socio-economic development

Germany will provide grants worth 55 million euros to support social and economic development in Bangladesh, said a press release Thursday.
The ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank Meyke, and the joint secretary (Europe) of the Economic Relations Division, Salahuddin Akbar, signed two agreements to this end. These are the 'Agreement on Financial Cooperation 2008-2009' and the 'Agreement on Technical Cooperation 2008-2009.'
The fund allocated under the agreement on financial cooperation amounting to 40 million euros is aimed at promoting energy efficiency and local governance in urban areas and health financing.
