56 BDR jawans convicted, 4 acquitted in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, Apr 19 (UNB): The BDR Special Court-1 here Monday sentenced 56 out of 60 accused BDR jawans of 7-Rifles Battalion to different terms of imprisonment on charges of February 25-26 mutiny in 2009.
The special court headed by the outgoing BDR director general, Maj Gen Md Mainul Islam, pronounced the verdict at 1:25pm at the makeshift court in the 41 Rifles Battalion headquarters here.
The court acquitted four accused as the charges brought against them were not probed.
The maximum penalty of seven years' rigorous imprisonment was awarded to 24 while five years to four, four years and six months to three, four years to five, three years to three, two years and six months to one, two years to four, one year and six months to three, one year and one month to five, six months to one and four months to three jawans.
This is the fourth judgment delivered in connection with the BDR mutiny.
