560 cartons of cigarettes seized

Customs officials seized 560 cartons of contraband foreign cigarettes and arrested a man at Hazrat Shah Amanat (R) International Airport in Chittagong on Thursday. The arrested is Faisal Ahmed. Further details about the arrestee could not be known. On secret information, the customs officials recovered the ‘303 Super Slim’ brand cigarettes of the USA kept hidden inside sofa sets and steel beds at the freight unit of the airport. Assistant director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate Umme Nahida confirmed the incident. With this, some 20,000 cartons of foreign cigarettes have been seized at the country’s three international airports in the last 17 months, according to a news agency.
