57 jailed, five acquitted

FENI, Apr 18 (UNB): A special court of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) Sunday convicted 57 jawans and sentenced them to different terms of imprisonment and acquitted five of the charges of February 25-26 BDR mutiny in 2009.
Among the convicts, four jawans were awarded seven years jail, and the rest were awarded different terms in jail. The lowest term was for four months.
The court acquitted Habilder Md Ali, Nayek Dulal Miah, Lance Nayek Saiful Islam, Sepoy Kazi Saifuzzaman and Sepoy Omar Faruq as the mutiny charge brought against them was not proved.
