591 Sirajganj primary schools run without headmaster

SIRAJGANJ, Mar 24 (UNB): A total of 591 government primary schools in the district are running without any headmaster, affecting both academic and administrative activities.
Assistant teachers at those schools are serving as acting headmasters. As a result, academic and administrative activities at those institutions are facing setback.
District Primary Education Offices sources said that there are 1,668 government primary schools in nine upazilas of the district where about 591 posts of headmaster and 461 post of assistant teacher have been vacant for long.
There are 72 vacant posts of headmaster and 22 of assistant teacher in Sirajganj Sadar upazila while 22 headmasters and 29 assistant teachers' posts are vacant in Kamarkhand upazila, 94 headmasters and 87 assistant teachers in Kazipur Upazila, 71 headmasters and 17 assistant teachers in Raiganj upazila, 47 headmasters and 22 assistant teachers in Tarash upazila, 78 headmasters and 51 assistant teachers in Ullapara upazila, 96 headmasters and 89 assistant teachers in headmaster at shahjadpur, 65 headmasters and 57 assistant teachers in Belkuchi Upazila and 46 headmaster and 87 assistant teacher posts in Chauhali upazila.
Contacted, the District Primary Education Officer Siddique Mohammad Yusuf Reza said that necessary steps are being taken urgently to fulfill the vacant posts.
