6 bodies found after Jamuna boat capsize

Six bodies have been recovered after a boat, carrying over a hundred passengers, capsized in the Jamuna River at Chawhali Upazila in Sirajganj. Chawhali Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Abdullah said the mishap took place at around 10 am on Thursday in the Mituani Bazar boat pier area. He said the boat was ferrying the passengers from Mituani Bazar to Char Salimabad. It capsized after hitting a rundown bridge near the pier, he added. Abdul Latif, a witness, said though most of the passengers swam ashore, many failed. Locals recovered bodies of six passengers from the river, according to bdnews24.com.
