6 devotees killed in Mymensingh crash

Six Muslim devotees were killed and seven others injured in a fatal road accident on their way to Biswa Ijtema in Tongi town of Gazipur district from Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh district on Saturday night. The accident took place in Amtoli area when a bus rammed a human hauler. One of the deceased was identified as Shahjahan, 30 while identities of five others could not be known immediately. Abdul Motaleb Mia, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station, said the Bhaluka-bound speedy bus crashed into the Tongi-bound human hauler, carrying Musallis for Akheri Munajat (final prayers) on the third-day of Biswa Ijtema in Tongi around 10:30pm, leaving three passengers of the human hauler dead on the spot and 10 others injured. Among the injured, seven were rushed to Bhaluka Health Complex where two succumbed to their injuries. Another injured, Shahjahan, succumbed on way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) around mid night, according to UNB.
