6 held in city in connection with Moghbazar killings

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel in an overnight drive in the city have arrested six people on suspicion of their involvement with Moghbazar triple-murder. The identities of the arrestees could not be known immediately and the RAB members said the six were arrested from different parts of Dhaka city early in the morning on Saturday. Details of the arrestees will be revealed later through a media briefing to be held at the RAB Headquarters in Uttara. RAB said two pistols and three sharp weapons were recovered during the drive. During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees confessed to RAB their involvement in the killings of Ranu Akhter Brishti, 28, wife of Mohammad Abul Hossain, her younger brother Hridoy’s friends – Munna, 20, and Billal Hossain, 25, at Sonalibagh in Moghbazar area. The miscreants also shot and injured injured another person in Ranu Akhter’s Sonalibagh house, said Commander Mufti Mahmud, director (Media wing) of RAB Headquarters, according to private TV channels.
