6 jailed for drug peddling in Savar

A mobile court in Savar upazila of Dhaka district on Sunday sentenced six people to six months imprisonment and another to one year for their involvement in drug peddling. The convicts were identified as Alam, Halan Miah, Rana Hamid, Ripon Miah, Mamun Hossain and Ayub Ali. Police said being tipped off, a team of the DB (Detective Branch) police conducted a drive in different areas in Ashulia and arrested five people from Kandi Bhakurta and Solmasi village and another from Gajirhat area while they were selling drugs and liquor. Later, they were produced before the mobile court of Executive Magistrate and Savar upazila nirbahi officer Kamrul Hassan Mollah who handed down the punishment, according to UNB.
