6 Jamaat activists sent to jail

Our Correspondent KHULNA, Nov 17: Six Jamaat-e-Islami activists including one leader have been sent to jail in an anti state activities case. The accused are Mahabubul Alam, secretary of district unit Jamaat, Asaduzzaman Mukul, Amir of Debhata thana, Yakub Ali, Mawlana Oliul Islam and Ziaur Rahman of village Shakhipur and Parulia under Debhata Upazila of Satkhira district. A was filed against them on charge of anti state activities last year with Debhata thana and they were on bail from High Court. Meanwhile police submitted charge sheet against them after investigation. Judicial Magistrate of Satkhira Tarun Kumar Bachar cancelled the bail and ordered to send them to jail while they appearing before the court for further bail petition. Body recovered Asasuni thana police recovered a body of a woman from village Gabtala under Asasuni Upazila of Satkhira district Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Anupa Das (42) daughter of Late Mohendra Das of village Gabtala. Police and local sources said that Anupa Das had been living at her father's house for 20 to 25 years after being abandoned by her husband. On Tuesday evening she went outside of the house and did not return home. The local people found her body near by wet land on Wednesday morning. Being informed police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy. One beaten to death A cattle trader was beaten to death by BSF at Putkhali border area of Benapole Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Baten son of Khairul Bashar of Shaikhati area of Jessore. Putkhali BGB Camp Commander Afjal Hossain said that a team of Bangladeshi cattle traders of was returning from India. While they reached Angrile border area BSF chashed them and caught Baten. Baten was allegedly beaten to death by the BSF. JU BCL rally for full committee JU Correspondent JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Nov 17: Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) the student body of ruling Awami League, on Thursday brought out a procession demanding immediate full-fledge JU unit BCL committee to run its political activities properly here at the JU campus. At around 11am the BCL leader and activists brought out the procession from JU transport which ended at Amar Ekushey.
