6 killed in Rajshahi road accidents

Six people were killed and 12 others injured in separate road accidents in Rajshahi on Wednesday. Three persons, including a college-teacher were killed and five others injured when a speeding truck collided head-on with a human hauler at Kesharhat on Rajshahi-Naogaon highway under Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi district in the afternoon. The deceased were identified as Jahangir Hossain, 40, assistant professor of Kesharhat Degree College, Yeakub Ali, 45, and Akbar Hossain, 35. The injured persons were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), said Abdul Halim, officer-in-charge of Mohanpur Police Station. Two persons were killed and three others injured when a truck collided head-on with a pick-up van at Baneshwar area on Rajshahi-Natore highway under Puthiya upazila around 7.30am. The deceased were identified as Nazmul Haque, 45, and Mijanur Rahman, 40. The injured were admitted to the RMCH. Another person, Joynul Abedeen, 43, was killed on the spot when a truck ran over him at Kharkhari crossing under Paba upazila around 6.30am. Separate cases were lodged with the respective police stations and the bodies were sent to hospitals for autopsy, accoreding to a news agency.
