6 killed in separate incidents in Khulna

KHULNA, Oct 22: Two persons were killed in lightning in separate incident on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Nazrul Islam (30) son of Abu Bakar of village Mongalpur (Tarali) under Kaliganj Upazila of Satkhira distrtict and Enamul Sheikh (13) son of Saber Ali of village Ardanga under Rampal Upazila of Bagerhat district.
Local sources said that the thunderbolt struck Nazrul Islam when he was spraying pestiside in a crop land adjacent to his house at around 2pm, leaving him dead on the spot.
Another incident occurred at Rampal of Bagerhat district. Enamul Sheikh was returning home after performing Jumma prayer from a nearby mosque when suddenly a thunderbolt struck him and he died on the spot.
A fisherman was killed by a Royal Bengal Tiger in Sundarbans on Thursday noon.
The deceased was identified as Amulla Sarker (60) of village Kaninagar under Mongla Upazila of Bagerhat district.
A BNP leader was shot dead by miscreants at Shikarir area of Moheswarpasha of the city on Thursday evening.
The deceased was identified as Modasser Ali (52) of Ghoshpara, Moheswarpasha area of the city. He was the president of Moheswarpasa Food Warehouse Sromik Union and a BNP leader of Ward No.-1 of the city.
On hearing the message local BNP leaders went to the hospital and demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers.
The body was handed over to his family on Friday morning after autopsy.
A homoeopathic doctor was killed in a road accident at Rupsha station road of the city on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Dr. G.M. Hafizur Rahman (35) son of Babar Ali of village Bagmara under Rupsha thana of the district. He was also associated with Destiny 2000, an MLM Company.
One person was killed and three other were injured in a blast of a gas cylinder at an ice factory at Bagerhat on early Friday. The injured were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
The deceased was identified as Bhutto (45) of Shamnagar area of Satkhira district. The injured are Mijanur Rahman Babu (25), Bikash (25) and Lablu (23).
