6 killed in separate road accidents

KUSHTIA, Sept 12: A rider of a motorbike and a child were killed and at least nine people sustained injuries in a road mishap in the district on Monday.
Sources said the accident occurred when a Kushtia-bound bus (Zitu Delax) coming from Daulatdia Feri ghat of Rajbari district collided head on with a motorbike from opposite direction at Kazipara of Kumarkhali Upazila at about 11:a.m.
The rider of the motorbike died on the spot. The bus fell into the road side ditch as the driver of the bus failed to control it.
Nine passengers of the bus were injured in the accident.
The child died at Kushtia 250-bed hospital at about 2:00pm. The identity of the child could not be known immediately.
BSS reports from Thakurgaon: A college student was killed in a road accident at Kureghar on Thakurgaon-Panchagarh highway in Sadar upazila of the district yesterday.
Police said a Dinajpur-bound passenger bus hit Anis Ahmed Rumon, 20, son Fazlur Rahman of Boro Baliya village of the same upazila and a student of Balarampur Agriculture College.
Critically wounded Rumon was rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Another UNB report from Lalmonirhat adds: Two people were killed and five others were injured in separate road accidents in Hatibandha upazila on Rangpur-Burimari highway on Monday.
In another incident, Yakub Ali of the upazila was killed instantly and four others were injured when a bus dashed them at noon.
The injured people were admitted to Hatibandha upazila health complex.
Outraged at the accidents, local people blocked Rangpur-Burimari highway for two hours following the accidents.
Police, on information, rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
