6 killed in separate road mishaps

Our Correspondent NARSINGDI, Oct 22: At least 3 people including one bus driver were killed and 40other persons injured in a road accident at Nilkuthi area in Raipura upazila on Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Saturday 2.30 pm. The deceased could not be identified but police said one person was a bus driver of Chamra Paribahan in Kishoreganj. Police and local sources said a Brahmanbaria bound BRTC bus from Dhaka and a Dhaka bound bus from Bhairab head a head on collision in which one bus driver died on the spot. Hearing shout for help local people rushed to spot and sent them to Bhairab Upazila hospital were attending doctor declared two other dead. Ten persons were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Among them are Hamid, Nizam, Alauddin, Sagar, Shefali, Kanchan and Jahangir. On information Bhairab highway thana police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to Narsingdi sadar hospital morgue for autopsy. UNB reports from Panchagarh: Three people, including a businessman, were killed as their motorcycle was hit by a bus at Babuanijot in Tetulia upazila on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Russel Akhter, 35, a businessman, his manager Masum, 35, of Atwari upazila, and Russel's friend Faruk, 35, who hailed from Sirajganj district. Russel along with two others in a motorcycle was going to Banglabandha land port for buying imported stone from India when a bus hit his motorbike, leaving three dead on the spot at about 10:30am.
