6 rescued while being trafficked to India

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel rescued six people, including three women, at Benapole at Sharsha Upazila in Jessore on Thursday. All the victims hail from different areas of Sadar Upazila of Narail district. Shamsur Rahman, in-charge of Putkhali BGB-23 camp, said a BGB team conducted a drive at Putkhali border point of Benapole in the morning and arrested the 6 people while they were being trafficked to India. Quoting the arrestees, BGB sources said the human traffickers were sending them to India with promise of lucrative jobs. However, the traffickers ran away from the spot sensing the presence of the BGB men. A case was filed with Benapole Port Police Station, according to a news agency.
