6 robbers held in Sylhet

Police arrested six alleged robbers along with a pistol and a knife from different areas in Sylhet city on Monday. The arrestees were identified as Masum Ahmad, 22, son of Azir Uddin of Kohairgarh village and Dipu Debnath, 29, son of Direndra Debnath of Rameshwar village in Jointapur upazila of Sylhet district, Liton Miah, 24, son of Siraj Miah of Majhgaon village in Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar district, Abdul Matin Kamrul, 32, son of late Gani Miah of Karimpur village in Dakkhin Surma upazila of Syleht, Murad Ahmad, 30, son Abu Zafar Sardar, a resident of Electric Supply area under Airport Police Station in Sylhet city, and Sijan Khan, 18, son of Siltah Khan, a resident of Ambarkhana Jalali of the city. Police said tipped off that a gang of robbers were preparing to commit a robbery in a house on Road no-1 in Shapla Residential Area under Hazrat Shah Poran (RA) Police Station, a team of police launched a drive there. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers the robbers attempted to flee, police caught four of the gangsters along with a knife from Tilagarh point. Later, the police team, based on information from the four arrested, conducted a drive in Electric Supply area and arrested two more robbers at about 2:00 am. Police also recovered a pistol from their possession, according to UNB.
