60 injured in B\\\'baria clashes

At least 60 people were injured in separate clashes at Ashuganj and Sarail upazilas in Brahmanbaria district on Thursday afternoon. Police brought the situation under control by lobbing teargas canisters and firing rubber bullets. At Vuishor village under Sarail upazila, followers of rivals Faijullah and Hebju Mia engaged in a clash over watering arable land. They used lethal weapons. Informed, police rushed to the spot and fired 22 rounds of rubber bullets and lobbed five rounds of teargas canisters to quell the situation. At least 40 people were injured. Sarail Police Station officer-in-charge Ali Arshad said six people were arrested from the scene. At Khariala village at Ashuganj, supporters of Gafur Mia and Mizan Mia clashed using sharp weapons over the possession of a piece of land. At least 20 people were injured in the hour-long clash. Police controlled the clashing groups by using clubs, lobbing tear gas shells, according to UNB.
