'600 street children to be given night shelter'

Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for Ministry of Social Welfare Brig Gen (retd) MA Malek Sunday said over 600 street children in the capital will be rehabilitated by providing them with shelters at night as well as livelihood supports for them, reports BSS.
The government is planning to establish legal framework for the street children as part of government's initiative to ensure justice for them, he said.
Malek said this while speaking at a seminar on "Towards Restorative Justice for Children in Conflict with Law," jointly organised by Ministry of Social Welfare and the UNICEF Bangladesh in association with Legal Education and Training Institute (LETI) at a city hotel Sunday.
