600kg Hilsa seized at Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel seized 600 kilograms of Hilsa fish worth Tk 0.7 million while those were being smuggled out to India through Amrakhali border point at Benapole in Jessore on Wednesday. Rafiqul Islam, commanding officer of Benapole BGB Battalion-26, said being tipped off, a patrol team of the border force conducted a drive in the morning and seized 600kg Hilsa. However, the smugglers managed to escape sensing the presence of the BGB men. The seized Hilsa was deposited to Benapole Customs Office. A case was filed, according to UNB.
