60MW wind power plant being installed

FE REPORT | Friday, 1 April 2022

State minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid laid the foundation stone of a 60-megawatt (MW) wind-based power plant in Cox's Bazar on Thursday.
With this latest one, several wind-based power plants having a total of 245-MW generation capacity are currently under construction in the country.
The US-DK Green Energy (BD) will invest an estimated $116.51 million to implement the project as an independent power producer (IPP).
A total of 22 wind turbines of model EN156 having the electricity generation capacity of 3.0 MW each will be installed at the facility.
The radius of each rotor is around 156 metres. The plant is expected to come on line by December 2022.
The contribution of renewable energy to the country's overall power generation is increasing significantly, says Mr Hamid as the chief guest.
