62 illegal shops evicted from Ctg\\\'s hilly area

Chittagong district administration in cooperation with Chittagong Metropolitan Police in a drive evicted illegally set up 62 shops and establishments in the port city’s Bayezid area on Tuesday afternoon. An executive magistrate of district administration led the eviction drive beside Amin Jute Mills where illegally set up shops occupying a canal in the hilly area were rented to others for long. A group of miscreants in connivance with some influential local people had illegally set up a Kancha Bazaar occupying a canal which hampered supply of water for decades. District administration issued notices to the illegal occupants to remove their establishments but they did not comply with the order. High officials of administration and police, among others, were present during the drive. Three children of the same family were killed in an incident of landslide at the city's Bayezid area due to incessant rains on July 19 last, according to a news agency.
