64 gold bars seized at Shahjalal

Customs officials have foiled yet another attempt to smuggle gold through Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in Dhaka. Md Alo Uddin, 31, was arrested with 64 gold bars at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) Int’l Airport in Kurmitola, where he arrived from Doha of Qater in a Qatar Airways flight around 5am on Tuesday. ‘He was behaving strangely, so officials checked his bag and discovered the gold,’ Customs Detective Division Deputy-Director Mustafizur Rahman said. The bars weigh over 7 (seven) kilograms and are worth more than Tk 37 million, he added, according to bdnews24.com.
