6.4 quake hits China\\\'s Xinjiang: 3 dead

A shallow 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck China’s far western region of Xinjiang on Friday, the US Geological Survey said, with at least three people killed according to Chinese officials. The epicentre of the quake was in Pishan county, 164 kilometres (102 miles) northwest of the city of Hotan and 131 kilometres southeast of Shache, known as Yarkand. The tremor was 20 kilometres deep, according to USGS, according to a news agency.
