66 drug peddlers jailed in Natore

NATORE, Mar 3: Different mobile courts in six upazilas of Natore Sadar, Bagatipara, Lalpur, Baraigram, Gurudashpur and Singra under Natore district sentenced 66 drug peddlers to different terms of imprisonment during the last 7 days. Superintendent of police (In-charge), Natore, Nasirul Islam told this correspondent, drug is being sold at 218 points and the anti-drug drive will continue. In every anti-drug drive a huge quantity of wine, hemp, heroin, phensidyl etc. was recovered. Another report adds: Two drug peddlers were arrested from Bagatipara Upazila of the district Monday. On secret information, Officer-in-Charge of Bagatipara model Thana Mirza Abdus Salam arrested them. The arrestees are identified as Lokman Hossain (48), son of late Kafil Uddin of village Laraipara and Harun-Ur-Rashid, son of late Nabir Uddin of village Baraipara of Bagatipara Upazila in Natore district. The arrestees were sent to jail. BHRF unit formed Another message adds: A seventeen member committee of Bangladesh Human Rights Foundation (BHRF) of Baraigram Upazila unit has been formed here recently. The function was presided over by eminent educationist Md. Abul Khayer while BHRF Natore district president and editor of weekly Natore Barta, Principal (Retd) A.K.M. Nazrul Islam was present as the chief guest. Assistant general secretary BHRF district unit and Md. Jamshed Ali Master member of the district unit were present as special guests. Reception to social worker Another report adds: Bangldesh Mahila Parishad, Natore district unit accorded a reception to 'Gold Medal' awarded eminent social worker and chairman of Bangldesh Mahila Parishad of Natore district unit Dilara Begum Parul. The function was presided over by VP of the Parishad Syama Basak while additional district magistrate of Natore Dr. Sitara Begum was present as chief guest. Journalists, social workers, members of the Parishad were present on the occation.
