6kg gold seized at Shahjalal

Customs officials arrested a man along with six gold bars, weighing about 6 kilograms (kg), from Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in the city’s Kurmiola on Sunday. The arrested was identified as Shahinur Alam, 40. Shampriti Pramanik, assistant commissioner of customs at the airport, said customs officials challenged Shahinur while he was crossing the green channel of the airport around 6:30am. Searching his body, they recovered six gold bars worth about Tk 30 million. Shahinur arrived from Malaysia on the BG-087 fight of Bangladesh Biman, according to UNB.
