7 die in Jessore bus plunge

Seven people were killed and 19 others injured in a bus accident on Jessore-Benapole Highway at Jhikargachha Upazila in Jessore district on Tuesday. One of the deceased was Asaduzzaman, 27, a resident of Demra area in Dhaka city, while identities of the rest six were yet to be ascertained. Assistant superintendent of police Reshma Sharmin of Jessore said a Benapole-bound bus of ‘Shohag Paribahan’ from Dhaka ramped into the roadside tree at Beneali around 7:00am and slewed off into roadside ditch after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving six of its passengers dead on the spot and 20 others injured. The injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital and Jhikargachha Upazila Health Complex where Asaduzzaman succumbed to his injuries, according to AFP.
