7 die in N\\\'ganj road accident

At least seven people were killed and five others injured when a truck lost control and fell into a roadside ditch in Rupganj Upazila in Narayanganj district on Saturday. The truck carrying vegetables and at least 12 people was on its way to Chittagong. Rupganj Police Station OC Md Asaduzzaman said the accident took place around midnight on the Madanpur-Bhulta-Joydevpur road at Rupganj’s Golakandail. Five persons, who suffered critical injuries, were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for better treatment, he said. After the driver lost control, the truck veered off the road into the ditch and nearly half of the vehicle went under water. Locals immediately started the rescue efforts. Officials of the Fire Service and Civil Defence and police later joined them. Police were unable to provide the identities of the victims. However, officials from the scene said all of them were males and were aged between 25 to 50 years, according to bdnews24.com.
