7 girls back home from Indian jail

JESSORE, Aug 7: The Indian authority Tuesday evening handed over seven girls who were trafficked several times to India. The children were handed over to the Bangladesh Rifles and Women Lawyers Association by the BSF in association with a human rights organisation of India through Benapole border.

The children are Suma (14), daughter of Shushil Mishtri, Ayesha Khatun (13), daughter of Ekhter Gazi, Khadiza Khatun (15), daughter of Manik Shah, Golapi (14), daughter of Akash Ali, Mina Khatun (15), daughter of Ashraf Ali, Jesmin Khatun (13), daughter of Shafimza, and Tania Khatun (7), daughter of Ashraful Islam. They belonged to Jessore, Rajshahi and Pirojpur.

BDR sources said the girls were trafficked to India several times by the traffickers and were arrested by the law enforcers in India. Then they were sent to Presidency Jail of West Bengal. Sanglap, a human rights organisation of India, communicated the matter to the Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association. Then Bangladesh government took the initiative to get them back.
