7 Juba Dal activists held in city

Police arrested 7 activists of Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal for trying to form a human chain on Friday in the city, demanding the release of its leader Moazzem Hossain Alal. They were picked up from in front of National Press Club (NPC) in the morning. 'They were trying to organise a programme there without permission,' Shahbagh police Inspector Habil Hossain said. Juba Dal is BNP's youth front. Witnesses said Juba Dal's Mohammadpur unit had gathered in front of the NPC when police surrounded them and detained 7. Minutes later, BNP's acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir demanded their release. Alal, besides 62 others, was detained from his Mohammadpur residence on Oct 25. He has been implicated in a case for allegedly plotting acts of sabotage. A Dhaka court sent the former MP and five others to three days’ police custody for interrogation the following day, according to bdnews24.com
