7-member body formed to probe BDR carnage

Tuesday, 24 December 2024

A seven-member commission has been formed to investigate the 2009 Pilkhana massacre, reports UNB.
Disclosing the information at a programme at the BGB headquarters in Pilkhana, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Monday said the Chief Adviser endorsed the formation of the commission on Sunday night.
Jahangir Alam expressed the hope that the creation of the commission, a long-standing demand of the nation, would be a significant step towards bringing clarity and justice to the tragic incident.
The commission's objective is to uncover the true causes behind the events of February 25, 2009, when a mutiny erupted at the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR, now BGB) headquarters in Pilkhana.
