7 more bodies recovered in Padma

Seven more bodies of victims of an Eid day boat capsize were recovered from Padma River in Kushtia district on Thursday. Police said they recovered the bodies floating on the river at Rayta Patharghata in Bhermara, Ambaria in Khoksa, Talbaria of Mirpur and Gopinathpur in Kushtia Sadar Upazila on Thursday morning, two days after the motorised boat capsized in Bairagirchar under Daulatpur Upazila. Bheramara Model Police Station OC Mamun Khan said rescuers spotted bodies of three victims at Rayta Patharghata around 6am. The dead are ‘Kalu’, 18, ‘Shikha’, 18, and ‘Shahajul’, 32 – all hailing from Taragunia in Daulatpur. Mirpur Police Station OC Shahinul Islam Shahin said two more bodies were recovered at Talbaria around 9am. The victims were identified as ‘Bibha’, 20 and ‘Bithi’, 15, all inhabitants of Farakpur and Gangarampur villages of Daulatpur. According to Kushita Model Police Station and Khoksa Police Station, body of a man was found at Gopinathpur and a girl child at Ambaria around 10am. Their identities could not be known. Seven bodies have been recovered from the river today. On Wednesday night, the body of Mala Akhter Poly, 25, was found in the Garai River, a tributary of Padma River, according to bdnews24.com.
